How can I change the approver of a user?

Approvers are the people who can approve or reject a user's leave requests.

Steps

  1. Go to People → Employees

    • Find the user whose approver you want to change
    • Click on their name to open their profile
  2. Edit job information

    • Click Edit in the Job Information section
    • Or click menu → Edit Employee
  3. Update approvers

    • Find Approvers field
    • Remove: Click ✖ next to existing approvers
    • Add: Select new approvers from dropdown
    • Users can have multiple approvers
  4. Save changes

    • Click Save
    • New approvers are assigned immediately

Approver requirements

  • Only Managers and Admins can be approvers
  • Approvers must be active users
  • Multiple approvers can be assigned
  • Any approver can approve or reject requests

Multiple approvers

When multiple approvers are assigned:

  • All approvers receive notification
  • Any one approver can approve or reject
  • First approval/rejection is final
  • Other approvers are notified of the decision

Tips

  • Assign approvers who know the user's work
  • Consider backup approvers for coverage
  • Update approvers when team structure changes
  • Communicate approver changes to users
