How to activate the leave type in a leave policy?

Activating a leave type makes it available for employees to request under that policy.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings → Policies

    • Find the policy you want to edit
    • Click the View icon to open policy details
  2. Locate the leave type

    • You'll see all leave types in your account listed in the policy
    • Find the leave type you want to activate
  3. Activate the leave type

    • Click the Activate button next to the leave type
    • The status will change to "Active"
  4. Configure settings (optional)

    • Click Edit to set allowance, accrual, and other rules
    • Configure approval workflows if needed
  5. Save changes

    • Changes are saved automatically
    • The leave type is now available for requests

What happens when activated?

  • ✅ Employees can see and request this leave type
  • ✅ The leave type appears in the request form
  • ✅ Balance tracking begins for this leave type
  • ✅ Approvers can review and approve requests

Deactivating a leave type

  • Click Deactivate to hide the leave type from new requests
  • Existing requests remain valid
  • Can be reactivated at any time

Tips

  • Activate only the leave types your employees need
  • Deactivate unused leave types to simplify the request form
  • Review active leave types regularly
